Version 1.10 | | Device Driver for OS/2 ............................ Version 1.41 | | | +====================================================================+ Thank you for purchasing the DC-200/DC-200M Disk Accelerator. Your DC-200/DC-200M should include one diskette. The diskette contains the drivers for DOS, Windows, Windows NT, NetWare, OS/2 and UNIX. It also contains several DOS utility programs including the new SIADDR utility. +------------------------------------+ | Driver for DOS | +------------------------------------+ You will need the driver under following situations: 1. More than two IDE drives are attached to the DC-200/DC-200M controller 2. The DC-200/DC-200M functions as the SECONDARY disk controller 3. When installing the Windows drivers for TURBO MODE Please refer to the User's Manual under "Advanced Installation" to install a third and fourth hard disk drive. If your DC-200/DC-200M will be installed as the SECONDARY disk controller, follow the steps in the section below entitled "Secondary Disk Controller Operation." The DOS driver (ver 1.2 and above) is needed to work in conjunction with the Windows drivers. Refer to README file found in WINDOWS directory. +------------------------------------+ | Drivers for NetWare | +------------------------------------+ The subdirectory "NETWARE" contains the device drivers for NetWare 3.10 and NetWare 3.11. Browse the README file in the subdirectory "NETWARE" for information about NetWare driver installation. +------------------------------------+ | Drivers for Windows | +------------------------------------+ The subdirectory "WINDOWS" contains the device drivers for Windows 3.10 Browse the README file in the subdirectory "WINDOWS" for information about Windows driver installation. +------------------------------------+ | Driver for OS/2 | +------------------------------------+ The subdirectory "OS2" contains the device driver for OS/2 2.0 and OS/2 2.1. Browse the README file in the subdirectory "OS2" for information about the OS/2 driver installation. +------------------------------------+ | Drivers for Unix | +------------------------------------+ The subdirectory "UNIX" contains the device driver for AT&T UNIX SVR 4.0 and SCO UNIX 3.2.X. Browse the README file in the subdirectory "UNIX" for information about the UNIX driver installation. +------------------------------------------------+ | Secondary Disk Controller Operation | +------------------------------------------------+ The DC-200/DC-200M can co-exist with another disk controller in a system. You can add this card in addition to the existing disk controller, or install two DC-200/DC-200M controllers in a system. This section describes the procedure to install the DC-200/DC-200M as the SECONDARY disk controller. The following installation assumes that you are familiar with the steps to install a DC-200/DC-200M as the PRIMARY disk controller. If you are not, please refer to the DC-200/DC-200M User's Manual for details. 1. Copy the driver DOSDRV.SYS to your system and add the statement "device=[drive:][\path\]DOSDRV.SYS" to your CONFIG.SYS file. The "device= ...." statement should be located before any other statements that access information on the physical drive(s) attached to the secondary disk controller. The driver DOSDRV.SYS is provided on this diskette. 2. Power off PC and prepare your DC-200/DC-200M. - Install the cache RAM (SIMMs). - Locate jumper JP1 (IRQ Selection). Select either IRQ12 or IRQ15 as the interrupt channel by installing the jumper across pin-1 and 2 if you choose IRQ12 or across pin-5 and 6 for IRQ15. 3. Leave only one active floppy controller in the system. You may remove the jumper JP2 to disable the floppy controller on the DC-200/DC-200M. 4. Set the IDE disk drive jumper(s). 5. Plug the DC-200/DC-200M into an ISA bus slot and connect the cables. 6. Power up the system, press when the following CSU prompt message appears on the screen: Secondary : DriveCache DC-200: Cache Memory Test (Hit a Key to Abort) Press F2 to enter Cache Setup Utility. 7. Press F1 key to enter the Setup Menu In the CSU Setup Menu, you can change the cache operating mode and the BIOS address when required. The drive parameters of the attached IDE drive(s) will also be shown on the Setup Menu. If you are not sure if the parameters are translation mode parameters, contact your drive supplier for help. 8. Press to save the change(s) followed by to exit and then reboot the system. 9. If the drive(s) attached are new, use the disk-based utility SIFDISK.EXE to partition the drive(s) and use the FORMAT utility from your operating system to format the newly created partition(s). 10. The installation is done. Your DC-200/DC-200M is now ready for operation. NOTE: When installing two DC-200/DC-200M controllers in a system, it is recommended to establish the PRIMARY controller first. Only if you are an experienced PC installer should you attempt to install both at once. Notice that both of your DC-200/DC-200M controllers have the BIOS address set to D8000H (factory default address). It is recommended to change the BIOS address of the PRIMARY controller to a different location other than D8000H. After the PRIMARY controller is operational, follow the steps described above to install the SECONDARY DC-200/DC-200M Disk Accelerator. +==============================+ | SIADDR.EXE Utility | +==============================+ SIADDR.EXE - Change BIOS ROM address Syntax: [Drive:][\Path\]SIADDR Function: SIADDR allow the user to assign the external BIOS ROM to one of six selectable addresses. Note: If somehow a conflict exists and there is no CSU prompt message, this utility will allow the user to assign the external BIOS ROM from the DOS prompt. A system reboot is then necessary for the new address(es) to take effect. The user can abort the operation by pressing twice. +==============================+ | Trademarks Acknowledgment | +==============================+ MS-DOS and Windows are registered trademarks of Microsoft Corporation.
